Does this microphone need phantom power?

Yes. It is a condenser design, so switch 48V phantom power on for that channel. A silent or very quiet channel is the usual sign that phantom has been left off. More on phantom power.

What pickup pattern is this, and when does it matter?

Cardioid. It picks up in front and rejects sound from behind, which is what makes it the standard choice on a live stage where monitors sit behind the microphone. How to stop feedback.

About this Product

The Shure MX396/C-TRI is a multi-element boundary condenser combining 3 cardioid capsules in one low-profile housing, it covers three directions from one housing, and the elements can be physically repositioned inside the grille for 360-degree coverage. A configurable mute button with bi-colour LED works locally or hands control to an automatic mixer over the logic lines, and the 6.1m unterminated cable carries separate audio pairs per element for the installer to land on the DSP.

Can I open a trade account?

Do you ship outside the UK?

You can order on our website for delivery to the UK (Including Northern Ireland), Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and the Republic of Ireland.

We can ship many items to the EU and other countries worldwide. Our dealer agreements may prevent us sending some items to certain countries.

Please contact us for a quotation if you need something shipped to a country not offered at checkout.

Can I return an item?

Generally if you change your mind you can return your item for a full refund within 30 days of delivery (14 days for business customers) - as long as the product is unopened and unused.

If an item is faulty or damaged we will arrange collection free of charge and repair/replace it as quickly as possible.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Estimated delivery times are shown on the product page. For items in stock we aim to get your order to you within 1 - 2 working days.

Do you have a shop/can I collect?

Yes. We have a trade counter near Wembley Stadium, London. Many of our most popular items are stocked here for immediate collection.

Stock availability is shown on every product page and is updated in real time. Items not stocked at our Wembley branch can usually be collected next day.

Do you offer an Installation service?

We're currently not able to offer an installation service due to the rapid growth of Stage Supply.

We hope to be able to offer this service again in the future.

We use Royal Mail for smaller items, FedEx and Parcelforce for larger items and The Pallet Network for Pallet delivery items.
