About Tools & Consumables for Stage Crew
The working kit behind a show rather than the kit in it: the tape, ties, torches and testers a crew gets through on every load-in. Everything here is bought to be used up or carried every day, so it is grouped by job rather than by brand.
Gaffer & Electrical Tape covers cloth gaffer tape for securing cable and marking on stage, and PVC electrical tape for colour coding and finishing. Cable Ties and Heatshrink & Sleeving finish and identify looms. Cable Testers & Test Equipment holds the testers that find a broken lead before it reaches the stage, Cleaning & Maintenance the products that keep connectors and kit serviceable, and Batteries keeps radio mics and testers running.
Ledlenser head torches, torches and work lights are split by how the light is carried. Head Torches keep both hands free up a ladder or inside a rack, Torches covers handheld, pen and key-ring models for patching and fault finding, and Work Lights covers inspection lamps and floodlights for lighting a case, a truck bay or a stage before house power is up.
Tools & Consumables FAQs
What is the difference between gaffer tape and electrical tape? Gaffer tape is cloth-based, tears by hand and holds cable to floors without leaving much residue when it comes up. PVC electrical tape stretches, insulates and comes in colours for coding cables and circuits.
Which torch should a crew member carry? A head torch for hands-free work, plus a pen or key-ring torch for connectors. In Ledlenser model names, R marks a rechargeable version.
