About Guitar Picks

Picks get lost, handed to the crowd and worn down faster than any other accessory, so these come in packs: D’Addario Celluloid, Nylflex and Duralin, in 25 pack and 100 pack quantities.

Black Celluloid picks are available in Light, Medium and Heavy in 25 packs, and in Medium and Heavy in 100 packs, with White Celluloid in Medium in a 100 pack. Nylflex comes in 100 packs of Light, Medium and Heavy. Duralin picks come in 100 packs in two in-between weights, Light/Medium and Medium/Heavy.

Thickness drives the feel. Light picks flex as they pass the strings, which suits fast acoustic strumming and a softer attack. Medium is the compromise most players settle on for mixed rhythm and lead. Heavy picks barely flex, giving more control and a firmer attack for single-note lines, bass and heavier playing. The Light/Medium and Medium/Heavy Duralin weights sit between, for players who find one step too much.

Material changes the grip and the tone. Celluloid has the traditional feel and a bright, snappy attack; Nylflex and Duralin are alternatives with a different surface and flex, and the only reliable way to choose is to try one. The 100 packs suit venues, teachers and anyone handing picks out. Guitar Picks Explained covers gauge and material in more depth.

Picks FAQs

Which pick thickness should I choose? Light suits strumming, Medium is the all-round choice, and Heavy gives more control for lead lines and bass. If unsure, start with Medium.

Why buy picks in a 100 pack? Picks go missing quickly, so a 100 pack keeps a gig bag, rehearsal room or teaching studio stocked and works out simpler than buying small packs.
