About Guitar Tuners & Capos

A tuner and a capo are the two accessories that most often get borrowed and not returned, so every gig bag and backline drawer needs its own. This section has three D’Addario clip-on tuners and two capos.

The Eclipse Headstock Guitar Tuner and the Eclipse Rechargeable Guitar Tuner are full-size clip-ons, the rechargeable version saving on batteries for anyone tuning all day. The Micro Clip-On Headstock Tuner is small enough to stay on the headstock unnoticed through a whole set. Clip-on tuners read vibration through the headstock rather than sound through a microphone, which is why they work on a loud stage.

For capos, there is the Artist Guitar Capo and the Pro Plus Guitar Capo, both in Black. Try the action of each on your neck: what matters is that the capo clamps evenly across all the strings without pulling them sharp, and that it can be moved quickly between songs.

Tuners, Capos, Straps and the Accessories Worth Carrying goes into choosing both.

Tuners & Capos FAQs

Do clip-on tuners work on a noisy stage? Yes. They pick up vibration from the headstock rather than sound from the room, so background noise from the band does not affect them.

Why does my guitar go out of tune with a capo on? A capo that clamps too hard or sits too far from the fret can pull strings sharp. Place it just behind the fret and retune if needed.
