From wallplate to front of house

dLive doesn’t need a surface to run a room. PoE IP remotes scale from a single rotary (IP1) through key panels (IP4) and rotary banks (IP6) to eight motorised faders (IP8), installed systems support up to 96 of them. Director on a laptop and MixPad on iPad complete the picture.

Questions

dLive, answered

What is Allen & Heath dLive?
dLive is Allen & Heath’s flagship live mixing platform. Every system runs a 96kHz FPGA engine (the XCVI core) with 128 input channels, a configurable 64-bus architecture and roughly 0.7ms total latency. You combine a MixRack, the audio engine and stage I/O, with whichever control surface suits the job, or run the system surfaceless from a laptop, iPad or IP remote controllers.
What’s the real difference between S Class and C Class?
Identical engine, identical processing, identical sound. S Class hardware adds the touring-grade extras: dual-redundant link connections, hot-swappable power supplies with a dual-PSU option, three 128-channel I/O card ports per MixRack versus one on C Class, support for up to 28 DX expanders and 4 surfaces versus 12 and 2, and heavier-duty construction. If the show can’t stop, S Class; if space and budget lead, C Class gives you the same mix.
What does the U in DM64U or CDM32U mean?
Current-production MixRacks ship with the RackUltra FX card fitted as standard, that’s the U. It adds 8 additional FX engines with their own send/return channels, on top of the 16 RackExtra FX slots every dLive already has, without consuming any of the system’s busses or channels. The card can also be retrofitted to older racks.
Which MixRack should I choose?
All racks share the same 128-in engine, so choose by stage I/O and redundancy: DM32/CDM32 (32 in, 16 out), DM48/CDM48 (48 in, 24 out) or DM64/CDM64 (64 in, 32 out). The 4U DM0 has no local I/O at all, it’s built for digital splits and distributed systems where everything arrives via DX expanders. We spec dLive systems weekly; call and we’ll size it with you.
Can I run dLive without a surface?
Yes, and many installs do. Director (free, for Mac and Windows) gives full control from a laptop, MixPad runs on iPad, and the PoE IP-series remotes can run day-to-day operation, from the one-knob IP1 wallplate to the 8-motorised-fader IP8. Surfaces can be added at any time.
Do dLive expanders work with my SQ or Avantis?
Mostly yes, the DX168, DX164-W, DX012 and DX88-P are shared across dLive, Avantis, SQ and AHM (check per model). One pool of stageboxes can serve every Allen & Heath console you own.
What about personal monitoring?
Every MixRack carries a dedicated ME port: connect ME-1 (40-channel) or ME-500 (16-channel) personal mixers directly, or give performers control of their own monitor mix through the free 4You app via OneMix.
How do I buy a dLive system from Stage Supply?
Flagship surfaces and MixRacks are quoted as configured systems, rack, surface, cards, expanders and networking together. Call 0330 043 8650 or email [email protected] for pricing and availability. Expanders, cards, controllers and accessories are all orderable online with fast UK delivery.
