    About this Product

    A 100m reel of Elumen8 SY 5-core 16mm² armoured flexible control cable. Galvanised steel wire braid (SWB) armouring sits beneath a transparent PVC outer jacket, giving excellent mechanical protection where the cable interconnects fixed and moving equipment — conveyors, production lines, machine tools and similar industrial runs. Also widely used by electricians for fixed installations exposed to light mechanical stress.

    Indoor / Protected Use

    SY cable is best suited to indoor conditions. It can be used outdoors but should be protected — SY is not a direct UV / weather-rated cable and the steel braid is not a primary earth conductor.

    Note

    SY is a control / interconnect cable. The steel wire braid provides mechanical protection and EMC screening but is not classified as a primary protective conductor — a separate CPC inside the cable should be used for earthing in accordance with BS 7671.
