Preamp performance in a matrix mixerThe MX-8A uses Tascam’s high-grade mic preamps rather than the basic input stages typical of install matrix units: an input level range of -77.5 dBu to +26 dBu, equivalent input noise below -126 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of over 108 dB. On a courtroom or boardroom system running distant or gooseneck mics at high gain, that headroom and noise floor are what keep speech usable.
