The AVC2D takes the AVC2's approach of turning the system down rather than cutting it off, and puts it under microcontroller control. The audio path stays analogue, so the sound is untouched, but the attenuation now runs in fine steps down to -90 dB, attack and decay are adjustable, and an LCD shows exactly what the unit is doing. Its three modes cover a single stereo system, two separate mono zones, or stereo controlled by a microphone in the room, which measures what the audience actually hears and means the amplifiers no longer need locking away.

Mode 3 needs a measuring microphoneIn microphone mode the AVC2D controls the system from the real sound level in the room, including audience noise; the measuring microphone is not included. The 075R remote display is not compatible with the AVC2D (it suits the AVC2 and AVC4).
Features
Mode 1: one stereo channel with two thresholds (level 2 by contact closure)
Mode 2: two independent mono channels for two zones
Mode 3: stereo controlled by a room microphone, amps need not be locked away
Analogue audio path under digital control, no digital conversion of the signal
Attenuation down to -90 dB, with mute (-90 dB) and dim (-20 dB) inputs
Adjustable attack and decay
2 x 20 character LCD plus power and clip LEDs
Balanced XLR mic input with internally selectable 15 V phantom power
Terminal-block control inputs: mute, dim, level 2; warning and clip LED outputs
Mode selected by a recessed button on the rear
