A single-rackspace Blu-ray and multimedia player intended for permanent install and touring rather than domestic use. It can be driven over LAN, RS-232C or the supplied wireless remote, which is what makes it usable as a source inside an integrated media system where a consumer player would need someone standing in front of it. The MKII builds on the earlier BD-01U and BD-MP1 in the same 1U format.

Specified for control, not just playbackThe reason this player ends up in AV racks is the control surface: RS-232C for two-way serial control from a media controller, LAN for network integration, and IR for local use. If you are specifying against a control system such as Crestron or Q-SYS, confirm the command set against Tascam’s protocol documentation for the MKII before writing the driver.
