Schuko turns up constantly in production because so much European-built equipment and ex-rental stock arrives with it fitted, and plenty of touring distro provides Schuko outlets alongside UK types. Rewireable plugs and sockets let you re-terminate damaged leads and build adaptor tails without replacing whole cable assemblies. Two things are worth knowing when speccing. First, Schuko is unpolarised, so line and neutral can arrive either way round depending on how the plug is inserted, which rules it out where a device genuinely requires fixed polarity. Second, it is a 230V 16A format with side earth contacts, not a substitute for BS 1363 in fixed UK installations; its place is on production power where the distro provides Schuko outlets. Choose IP44 for general covered use and IP54 where dust and splash exposure is heavier.
