Introducing the Stage Supply Guides

Stage Supply Guides: buying guides, comparisons and how to guides for stage, sound and lighting

A lot of the calls and emails we get aren’t really about stock. People want to know which licence they need for a radio mic, whether a 16A lead will run a lighting rig, or why a new LED fixture flickers on an old dimmer. We’ve been writing the answers down, and they now live together in one place: the Stage Supply Guides.

There are nearly a hundred guides so far, all written for UK kit and UK rules.

Sorted by what you’re trying to do

Each guide sits under a subject, such as lighting, wireless or power, and has a type that tells you what you’ll get from it:

A few to start with

If you’re new to this, how a PA system works and your first lighting rig are the places to begin.

If you work on events, 110V site power and event power distribution are worth a read before your next outdoor job, and a spares kit that stops a show going dark is a good checklist to run through before a show.

For anyone buying wireless, Channel 38, Channel 70 and Ofcom is the one to read first.

On the product pages too

Guides now appear on the product pages they relate to, so when you’re looking at a product you’ll see the guides that cover it.

We’re adding more all the time. If there’s a question you keep having to answer for your own customers or crew, tell us and we’ll write it up.
