Rechargeable packs are model-specific, and the codes matter. A pack that fits one generation of transmitter will not fit its successor, and the listing that looks close enough usually is not. The same applies to power supplies, where each receiver generation has its own part number and voltage: this is worth confirming when the kit is bought rather than at seven o’clock on a show day when a PSU has gone missing.

For rental stock and installs, networked docking chargers change the end-of-night routine. Instead of a drawer of loose AAs and a guess about condition, transmitters go into a dock and the system reports what is charged and what is failing. Battery health is the single most common cause of a wireless channel misbehaving mid-show, and it is the easiest to eliminate.

Antenna cable deserves more thought than it usually gets. It should be 50 ohm coax with BNC terminations, and it should be as short as the position allows, because UHF loss builds with every metre and with frequency. A long thin cable between a paddle and a receiver can undo the benefit of fitting the paddle at all. Where a long run is unavoidable, use low-loss cable and expect to compensate with an inline amplifier rather than accepting the loss.
