Install DSP: Biamp Tesira & BSS Soundweb London

Networked DSP for fixed installations, where one processor handles the mixing, routing, echo cancellation and loudspeaker processing for a building, meeting room or venue. This section collects the install side of our processing range: Biamp Tesira and BSS Soundweb London, plus Formula Sound’s fire alarm interface.

Biamp’s TesiraFORTE units are fixed I/O processors. The AI models have 12 mic/line inputs and 8 outputs, the CI and VT models add acoustic echo cancellation on all 12 inputs for conferencing, the VT models add VoIP, and the VT4 versions have 4 AEC inputs. DAN and AVB versions put the processor on a Dante or AVB network, and the TesiraFORTE X 400 is a 4-channel meeting room DSP with PoE+ ports. TesiraCONNECT TC-5 and TC-5D expanders and the EX-OUT and EX-UBT expanders add outputs, USB and Bluetooth to a Tesira system.

BSS Soundweb London spans fixed I/O processors such as the BLU-50, BLU100, BLU101 with AEC, BLU102 with a telephone hybrid and BLU103 with VoIP, card-based chassis including the BLU120, BLU160, BLU-326 and BLU806, input and output cards, break-in and break-out boxes, the BLU-DAN Dante bridge and the BLU8 programmable zone controllers. Formula Sound’s Guardian CX4 MK3 is a 1U fire alarm priority interface for the sound system.

What is the difference between install DSP and a loudspeaker processor? Install DSP such as Biamp Tesira or BSS Soundweb London handles the mixing, routing, echo cancellation and control for a building or room. A loudspeaker management processor handles the crossover, EQ, delay and limiting for a speaker system.

Do I need AEC? For conferencing, yes: without it, far-end callers hear themselves echoed back through the room’s speakers. Models such as the TesiraFORTE CI and VT and the BSS BLU101 have AEC built in.
