Schools, churches, studios and small theatres all face the same relight: tungsten profiles and fresnels on their last legs, lamp stock getting silly to source, and dimmers that predate the caretaker. ADJ’s Encore range exists for exactly this job — LED ellipsoidals and fresnels that hang where the old fixtures hung and read like theatre lights, not disco kit. The range map is simple once you see it: two fixture types (profile and fresnel), three sizes, and a warm-white or colour engine at each point.

The short answer

For most halls: Encore Profile 1000 WW for front light and specials, FR150Z fresnels for stage washes, roughly two fresnels per profile. Tight budgets and small throws drop to the Profile Mini and FR50Z; rooms that want colour without gel go to the Color engine versions of the same fixtures.

The profiles: Mini, 1000, Pro

The Profile Mini (the “Encore Mini” people search for) is a 40 W warm-white ellipsoidal at 3,000 K with CRI above 98 — genuinely flattering light — putting 900 lumens through precision optics. Small throws, front-of-house bars in studio spaces, and it takes lens kits and E-size gobos, so it does real profile work in miniature. The Mini Color swaps in a six-colour RGBWAL engine with variable white from 2,700–7,000 K.

The Profile 1000 is the workhorse: 120 W, CRI 98, 12–22° zoom, manual framing shutters and flicker-free operation with adjustable refresh rate for camera work. It is the fixture that replaces the classic 650–1000 W tungsten profile one-for-one. The 1000 Colour adds a 63-colour palette in the same body — a profile plus a lifetime of gel in one purchase. At the top, the Profile Pro Color runs a 250 W six-colour engine with interchangeable 14–50° lens tubes, four-blade shutters and B-size gobos — proper theatre inventory for bigger rooms.

The fresnels: FR50Z, FR150Z, FR Pro

Fresnels do the soft-edged washes between the profiles’ hard edges. The FR50Z is the compact option: 50 W warm white through a 6" lens, 14–30° manual zoom — the affordable LED replacement for small tungsten fresnels. The FR150Z steps to 130 W and an 8" lens with 15–38° zoom, barn doors and both 3-pin and 5-pin DMX — the standard hall wash light. The FR Pro Color is the key-light class: 400 W, 7" lens, six-in-one HEX engine with virtual CMY mixing and tunable white from 2,400–8,500 K — studio and broadcast territory.

Warm white or colour engine?

WW versions cost less, flatter skin (CRI 98 on the profiles) and behave exactly like the tungsten units they replace — the right call where the job is plays, presentations and speech. Colour versions earn their premium in multi-use rooms: a school hall that hosts drama on Tuesday and a disco on Friday gets both from one rig, with no gel budget ever again. The honest rule from our installs: buy WW for the front light where faces matter, colour for the top and back light where looks happen. And remember every Encore is LED — no lamp stock, little heat, and dimming over DMX instead of dimmer racks.
