LEDJ Range Explained: Spectra Exterior, Battens, Pars, COB Floods and Effects
What each LEDJ family is for, how to read the model names, which Spectra fixtures are standard and which are PRO, and the cables, remotes and controllers that go with them. Specifications come from Prolight Concepts, the UK distributor that publishes LEDJ’s catalogue and user manuals.

In this guide: The short answer · The families at a glance · Reading the model names · Spectra Q40 and QX40 · Spectra pars · Spectra floods, batten and spot · Hydralock or PRO · Aspect feature lights · COB pars and UV flood · Indoor battens and pars · Control and remotes · Covered in other guides · Popular picks · FAQ
LEDJ fixtures are supplied in the UK by Prolight Concepts, the Lancashire distributor, and the range covers a lot of ground: IP65 exterior washes, small fixed-colour garden lights, COB pars, indoor battens, simple DMX controllers and the cables that tie them together. This guide maps the families we sell and gives the numbers that matter for choosing between them.
All specifications here come from Prolight’s own 2025-26 catalogue, its product pages and the user manuals it hosts. Where two Prolight sources disagree, we have left the figure out. What IP65 actually means is covered in our outdoor lighting and IP ratings guide, and RGBW versus six-colour mixing in colour on stage, so neither is repeated here.
The short answer
- Outdoors, or anywhere wet: the Spectra range. Every Spectra manual we checked gives IP65, except the Flood 18T3’s, which says IP66 (Prolight’s catalogue shows IP65 for the 18T3). The big seller is the Spectra Q40 MKII Exterior, a 40 x 10W RGBW flood with built-in CRMX wireless DMX. For building and tree uplighting, the Spectra Par 15Q8 Exterior is the workhorse.
- Rental and events: pick the PRO version of a Spectra fixture. PRO models swap LEDJ’s Hydralock trailing leads for chassis-mounted locking mains and IP-rated 5-pin XLR, and add a quick-release omega clamp.
- Fixed installs outdoors on a budget: standard Spectra models with Hydralock leads, or the single-colour Aspect Exterior feature lights for gardens and paths.
- Indoors: the COB pars, Slimline battens and pars, Performer pars and the 150W UV COB Flood. Prolight’s manuals for all of these say indoor use only.
- No lighting desk: the VersiLED and EasiLED controllers are simple DMX controllers for colour-mixing fixtures, and some LEDJ fixtures also take an optional IR remote.

Starcloths, the Rapid QB1 battery uplighters and the Libretto and Artisan theatre fixtures are LEDJ too. They have their own guides, linked further down.
Reading the model names
Most Spectra model names follow the LED array. The number before the letters is the LED count, the letters give the colour type, and the number after is the wattage of each LED:
| Code | LED type | Example |
|---|---|---|
| T | Tri-colour, RGB | Flood 18T3 = 18 x 3W RGB |
| Q | Quad-colour, RGBW | Par 15Q8 = 15 x 8W RGBW |
| HEX | Six-colour, RGBWAUV (red, green, blue, white, amber, UV) | Par 12HEX10 = 12 x 10W RGBWAUV |
| PRO | Same LED engine, rental-style connectors and omega clamp | Par 15Q8 PRO |
The Q40, Q6, Q15 and Q16 put the Q first: the Flood Q15 has 15 x 5W RGBW LEDs, the Batten Q16 has 16 x 5W. The Q40 MKII and QX40 Pixel MKII both have 40 RGBW LEDs, at 10W and 15W respectively. The Par 30HEX20 PRO is the exception to the HEX row: its manual lists its six colours as RGBALC (red, green, blue, amber, lime and cyan), so it has no UV or white LED.
Spectra Q40 MKII and QX40 Pixel MKII
These are the two big panels in the range. Prolight pitches the Q40 MKII at large buildings, event spaces and stages, and both are designed for rental, with quick-release omega brackets and a slim profile for packing several into a road trunk. They share a 4-way flight case.
| Spectra Q40 MKII | Spectra QX40 Pixel MKII | |
|---|---|---|
| LEDs | 40 x 10W RGBW | 40 x 15W RGBW |
| Beam | 40°, flat even field | 8°, with optional 20°, 40°, 90° and 15° x 60° diffusers |
| DMX modes | 4, 6 or 8 channels | 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 20 or 25 channels, pixel zone mapping, RDM |
| Wireless DMX | CRMX TiMo by LumenRadio | W-DMX |
| Connectors | Seetronic PowerTwist TR1 IP65 power, IP-rated 5-pin XLR | Locking mains in/out (Prolight sources differ on the exact type), IP-rated 5-pin XLR |
| IP rating | IP65 | IP65 |
| Cooling | Fan | Fan |
| Weight | 12kg | 11.9kg |
Which one? The Q40 MKII is the flood: one wide, even 40° wash of colour across a wall or a stage. The QX40 Pixel MKII starts tight at 8° and is shaped with clip-on accessories such as the 15° x 60° lens for wall washing, plus a barn door and snoot. Its zone control lets a designer run effects across the face of the fixture.
Note the wireless systems differ: the Q40 MKII has a CRMX receiver and the QX40 has W-DMX. Check that your transmitter talks to the fixture you are buying. Our wireless DMX guide explains the difference.
Spectra pars
The Spectra pars are convection cooled, so they run silently, with dual brackets for hanging or floor standing. All are IP65 according to their manuals. They are the most common choice for uplighting a building, a marquee or a row of trees.
| Model | LEDs | Beam | DMX modes | Connectors |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Par 12T3 | 12 x 3W RGB | 28° | 1, 3, 4, 5 or 6 | Hydralock |
| Par 7Q8 | 7 x 8W RGBW | 28° | 4, 6 or 8 | Hydralock |
| Par 6HEX10 | 6 x 10W RGBWAUV | 23° | 6, 8 or 10 | Hydralock |
| Par 15Q8 | 15 x 8W RGBW | 20° | 4, 6 or 8 | Hydralock |
| Par 15Q8 PRO | 15 x 8W RGBW | 20° | 4, 6 or 8 | powerCON TRUE1-compatible Seetronic, IP 5-pin XLR |
| Par 12HEX10 | 12 x 10W RGBWAUV | 28° | 6, 8 or 10 | Hydralock |
| Par 12HEX10 PRO | 12 x 10W RGBWAUV | 28° | 6, 8 or 10 | powerCON TRUE1-compatible Seetronic, IP 5-pin XLR |
| Par 30Q8 PRO | 30 x 8W RGBW | 20° | 4, 6, 10, 12, 14 or 22, RDM | PowerTwist TR1, IP 5-pin XLR |
The 15Q8 is the best-selling Spectra par here, and it pairs with the 12HEX10: they share the same bracket and omega clamp set and fit the same 8-way flight case. Choose the 15Q8 for punchy RGBW colour and the 12HEX10 when you need amber for warmer tones or UV. The 30Q8 PRO is the big one, with three individually controllable concentric rings for eye-candy effects. Its six-colour sibling, the Par 30HEX20 PRO, is not in Prolight’s 2025-26 catalogue, so check its manual for specifications.
Spectra floods, batten and spot
Prolight positions the Spectra floods for washing facades and signage and lighting landscapes. Power and DMX daisy-chain from fixture to fixture to keep installation quick. The Q-series RGBW floods and the Batten Q16 have a 45° beam, the Q-series HEX floods 40°, and all have an OLED menu.
| Model | LEDs | Beam | DMX modes | Connectors |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flood Q6 | 6 x 5W RGBW | 45° | 4, 6 or 9 | Hydralock |
| Flood Q6HEX | 6 x 10W RGBWAUV | 40° | 6, 8 or 12 | Hydralock |
| Flood Q15 | 15 x 5W RGBW | 45° | 4, 6 or 9 | Hydralock |
| Flood Q15 PRO | 15 x 5W RGBW | 45° | 4, 6 or 9 | PowerTwist TR1, IP 5-pin XLR |
| Flood Q15HEX / Q15HEX PRO | 15 x 10W RGBWAUV | 40° | 6, 8 or 12 | Hydralock / TR1 and IP 5-pin XLR |
| Flood 18T3 | 18 x 3W RGB | 40° | 1, 3, 4, 5 or 6 | IP-rated power, IP-rated 3-pin DMX |
| Flood 18T3 PRO | 18 x 3W RGB | 40° | Prolight sources differ | powerCON TRUE1-compatible Seetronic, IP 5-pin XLR |
| Flood 18HEX10 | 18 x 10W RGBWAUV | 40° | 1, 6, 7, 8 or 12 | Prolight sources differ |
| Flood 18HEX10 PRO | 18 x 10W RGBWAUV | 40° | 1, 6, 7, 8 or 12 | powerCON TRUE1-compatible Seetronic, IP 5-pin XLR |
| Batten Q16 | 16 x 5W RGBW, 1m | 45° | 4, 6 or 9 | Hydralock |
| Spot 40 RGBW | 1 x 40W RGBW | 4.5° native, 10° and 25° frost lenses supplied | 4, 6, 8 or 9, RDM | Hydralock |
Two cells are not filled in because Prolight’s catalogue and manual disagree: the 18T3 PRO’s DMX modes, and the standard 18HEX10’s connectors (its manual shows Hydralock trailing leads, the catalogue lists TRUE1-compatible power and IP 5-pin XLR). Ask us to confirm before ordering leads for an 18HEX10. The 18T3 PRO and both 18HEX10 models also have four dimming curves and selectable refresh rates of 1, 3, 6 or 12kHz.
The Batten Q16 is the one to use for grazing a wall or lighting a fascia from close in. An eyebrow and 60° diffuser kit is available for it. The Spot 40 is an IP65 pinspot for picking out a sign, sculpture or table centre; it has a 360° rotatable snoot as an anti-glare shield and an optional IR remote. It also comes in warm white and daylight versions.
Hydralock or PRO: connectors and cables
This is the main decision when buying Spectra. Standard models have short trailing leads ending in LEDJ’s own Hydralock IP65 connectors for both power and DMX. PRO models have chassis-mounted locking mains and IP-rated 5-pin XLR. Hydralock is neat for a permanent install. PRO is quicker to rig and strike, and uses connector types other rental kit already has.
| You need | Hydralock fixtures | PRO fixtures |
|---|---|---|
| Power link between fixtures | Hydralock power male to female, 1m to 20m | Locking-mains link leads (TR1 or TRUE1 to match) |
| First power feed | 2m UK plug to Hydralock; APS1 two-way splitter to split a feed | Mains lead with matching connector |
| DMX link | Hydralock DMX male to female | IP-rated 5-pin XLR DMX |
| From a desk or 5-pin fixture | Seetronic IP 5-pin XLR male to Hydralock DMX female | Not needed |
| From a 3-pin XLR line | 1m 3-pin XLR male to Hydralock DMX female | 3-pin to 5-pin adaptor |
| End of the DMX line | Hydralock DMX termination plug (120Ω) | 5-pin XLR terminator |
Some manuals add conditions. The Par 15Q8 PRO and Par 12HEX10 PRO manuals say IP-rated DMX cables must be used to maintain the IP65 rating. The manuals for the Par 30Q8 PRO, Par 30HEX20 PRO and Spot 40 (RGBW, WW and DL) ask for all connections to be sealed with the rubber caps where provided, state that an IP rating does not make the fixture suitable for coastal or marine installations, and say that a fixture installed in extreme outdoor or wet conditions must be powered on and run for at least 30 minutes every one to two weeks. Not every Spectra manual includes these conditions, so read the manual for the specific fixture you are installing.
Hydralock PRO leads, such as the 10m Hydralock PRO DMX and 10m Hydralock PRO power cables, are a different connector. Prolight’s page for the Hydralock PRO DMX lead lists IP68 Jnicon M16 connectors and says it suits the exterior Impact gobo projector series. The Spectra fixtures in Prolight’s catalogue use standard Hydralock, so check the connector on your fixture before ordering. Design, installation and testing of the electrical supply to an outdoor install is a job for a competent person.
Aspect Exterior feature lights
Aspect lights are small, IP65, die-cast fixtures with a single fixed colour, used for highlighting gardens, paths, planting and forecourts. Neither Prolight’s catalogue nor the manual lists any DMX or colour mixing: you choose the colour when you buy. They link on IP-rated trailing power leads and need a 2m UK plug to Hydralock lead (sold separately) for the first fixture in the chain.
| Aspect 3W | Aspect 9W | |
|---|---|---|
| LEDs | 3 x 1W | 3 x 3W |
| Beam | 35° | 35° |
| Power consumption | 4W | 10W |
| Colours | Red, green, light blue, deep blue, amber, cool white, warm white, pink, orange | Same nine |
| Example (red), lux at 2m | 320 | 672 |
| IP rating | IP65 | IP65 |
The 9W red is by far the most popular, for red uplighting of planting and brickwork. The 3W models, such as the 3W pink, suit low-level path and border lighting where the 9W would be too bright. Deep blue is much dimmer than the other colours in Prolight’s figures (84 lux at 2m for the 9W), so allow more fixtures if you want blue.
COB pars and the UV COB flood
These put one large chip-on-board LED behind the lens; Prolight says this gives the 150W RGBA Par smooth colour mixing with no colour shadows. The pars have a wide 80° native beam and come with 25°, 40° and 50° beam-reduction lenses. Prolight’s manuals for all four say indoor use only.
| Model | LED | Beam | DMX modes | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 200W COB RGBAL Par | 1 x 200W RGBAL | 80° + 25/40/50° lenses | 2, 5, 7, 8, 9 or 13 | CRI 93, OLED menu, powerCON, 3- and 5-pin DMX |
| 200W COB CW/WW Par | 1 x 200W cool white (6,600K) and warm white (2,800K) | 80° + 25/40/50° lenses | 2, 4, 5 or 7 | CRI 90 CW, 93 WW; colour temperature presets; filter frame included |
| 150W COB RGBA Par MKII | 1 x 150W RGBA | 80° + 25/40/50° lenses | 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 | powerCON, 3- and 5-pin DMX |
| 150W UV COB Flood | 1 x 150W UV, 395-400nm | 93° reflector | 1 or 2 | Manual, sound active and master/slave modes |
The 200W CW/WW is the one for speeches, presentations and anywhere people are lit for photographs: high CRI and a variable white. The RGBAL is the colour version, with a CRI of 93. The 150W RGBA MKII is the lower-powered colour option. The 150W UV COB Flood is our best-selling LEDJ UV product, covered in the UV lighting guide.
Indoor battens and pars
| Model | LEDs | Beam | DMX modes | Remote |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slimline 12Q5 RGBW Batten / RGBA | 12 x 5W RGBW or RGBA, 1m | 25° (40° field) | 2, 3, 4 or 7 | Optional IR (quad remote) |
| Slimline 7Q5 RGBA Par | 7 x 5W RGBA (RGBW also listed) | 25° (40° field) | 2, 3, 4 or 7 | Optional IR (quad remote) |
| UV Spectra Batten | 12 x 5W UV, 395nm, 1m | 65° (100° field) | 1 or 2 | IR remote supplied |
| Performer 18 Quad MKII | 18 x 8W RGBW | 40° | 4 or 8 | – |
| Performer 18 HEX MKII | 18 x 12W RGBWAUV | 40° | 6 or 10 | – |
| Performer 18 Quad Zoom | 18 x 8W RGBW | 25° to 75° zoom | 6 or 8 | – |
Despite its name, the UV Spectra Batten is an indoor fixture with IEC and 3-pin XLR connectors. It is not part of the IP65 exterior Spectra family. The Slimline battens and pars are convection cooled and silent. LEDJ says the 12Q5 and 7Q5 link together and can be run in sync from the optional IR remote, which makes them easy for a mobile DJ or a school hall. The Performer pars are fan cooled, in cast aluminium housings, and aimed at general stage wash, exhibitions and rental. For how battens and pars compare as a type, see our stage wash lighting guide.
Controllers, IR remotes and wireless DMX

Each IR remote matches a colour type, so buy the one that matches your fixture. The quad remote is the optional remote for the Slimline Q5 series and the Spectra Spot 40. The Spectra HEX remote is listed for the Q6HEX, Q15HEX and Q16HEX. The CW, WW and UV remote is the one supplied with the UV Spectra Batten. The basics of DMX addressing and modes are in our DMX explained guide.

Frequently asked questions
Who makes LEDJ lighting?
LEDJ fixtures are supplied in the UK by Prolight Concepts, a distributor based in Colne, Lancashire. Prolight publishes the catalogue, product pages and user manuals the specifications in this guide come from.
Can LEDJ Spectra lights be left outside?
The Spectra fixtures are built for exterior use, and the manuals we checked give IP65 (the Flood 18T3’s manual says IP66, though the catalogue shows IP65). Some manuals add conditions: the 15Q8 PRO and 12HEX10 PRO manuals require IP-rated DMX cables, and the 30Q8 PRO, 30HEX20 PRO and Spot 40 manuals rule out coastal or marine installs, ask for connections to be sealed with the rubber caps provided and for fixtures in extreme wet conditions to be run for at least 30 minutes every one to two weeks. Check the manual for your fixture.
What is the difference between Spectra and Spectra PRO?
The LED engine and beam are the same. Standard models use Hydralock trailing leads for power and DMX; PRO models use chassis-mounted locking mains and IP-rated 5-pin XLR, plus a quick-release omega clamp, which suits rental and touring.
Do LEDJ fixtures have wireless DMX?
The Spectra Q40 MKII has a CRMX receiver built in, and the QX40 Pixel MKII has W-DMX. The other fixtures in this guide have no built-in wireless DMX listed, so they need an external receiver, such as the LEDJ Mini Box G3 for W-DMX G3.
Which LEDJ IR remote do I need?
Match the remote to the fixture’s colour type: the quad remote for RGBW/RGBA fixtures like the Slimline Q5 series, the Spectra HEX remote for Spectra HEX floods and battens, and the CW, WW and UV remote for the UV Spectra Batten. Check the fixture’s manual for the order code it names.
Is the LEDJ UV Spectra Batten waterproof?
No. Despite the name, it is an indoor 1m UV batten with IEC power and 3-pin XLR, and its manual says indoor use only. For UV outdoors, the RGBWAUV HEX versions of the Spectra pars and floods include a UV LED alongside red, green, blue, white and amber (the Par 30HEX20 PRO is RGBALC, with no UV).
