About Mic Line Mixers

When you need to sum multiple stereo sources into one feed without a full console, a rack line mixer does the job, and this section carries the Tascam LM-8ST. In 1U it provides eight stereo channels on balanced 6.3 mm TRS pairs, each switchable between +4 and -10 dB operating levels to suit pro and consumer sources, plus a balanced XLR mic input on channel one for paging or a presenter feed.

Two output buses, ST1 and ST2/AUX, each feed balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, with pre or post fader assignment on the second bus so a zone or recording feed can run independently of the main mix. A rear cascade bus links multiple units when eight stereo inputs are not enough, and the power supply is internal, with no external adapter to go missing in the rack.

Line Mixer FAQs

What is a rack line mixer for? Summing stereo sources into one feed without a console, the LM-8ST gives eight stereo channels on balanced TRS in 1U, each switchable +4/−10 to suit pro and consumer kit.

Where does it fit? Install racks, AV carts and playback worlds where sources multiply but mixing decisions do not, set and forget.
