About Passive Point Source Speakers
Passive point source boxes from Martin Audio and NEXO, ranging from compact FlexPoint coaxial cabinets for install and portable work, through Blackline Q 12-inch and 15-inch two-ways, to the THH, THS and THV trapezoidal touring enclosures. Column formats such as the Blackline Q26 and Q44 suit rooms where a slim profile matters, and several models come in white for architectural installs.
Amplifier matching is where passive systems are won or lost: check each cabinet’s power handling and impedance against your amp channels, and run the manufacturer’s processor presets where they exist, since the limiter and EQ settings protect drivers and buy usable headroom. Coaxial designs like FlexPoint behave as a true point source, which keeps tone consistent for listeners close to the box and makes them strong candidates for under-balcony and fill duties. Columns trade low-end extension for controlled vertical dispersion, a sensible swap in reverberant rooms.
Passive boxes keep the weight and cost in the amp rack rather than the cabinet, so they pair naturally with the System Processors category, and we can advise on amp and DSP matching before you commit.
