About Heatshrink & Sleeving

Cable finishing materials from Elumen8 across three ranges: standard 2:1 heatshrink tubing, 3:1 adhesive-lined heatshrink, and polyester expandable braided cable sleeving.

The 2:1 tubing runs from 2.4mm up to 50.8mm supplied diameter in clear and black, on reels from 25m to 100m, and is the everyday choice for insulating solder joints, strain-relieving connector tails and colour-banding leads. The 3:1 adhesive-lined range covers 6.4mm to 50.8mm in handy 1.2m lengths as well as full reels; its higher shrink ratio grabs a wider spread of cable sizes from a single diameter, and the hot-melt lining flows as the tube recovers to form a sealed, moisture-resistant joint, which is what outdoor power leads, festival looms and anything living in a wet trunk actually need. The braided sleeving spans 3mm to 48mm on 100m reels, expanding to pass over connectors then relaxing onto the loom, tidying multicore breakouts and protecting flex where it passes through panels.

Size heatshrink by supplied diameter: pick a piece that slides freely over the connector barrel or joint but recovers tight onto the jacket, and let the shrink do the gripping rather than stretching undersized tubing into place. Clear tubing has a specific trade use too, shrinking over a printed label at each connector tail so channel, phase and ownership markings survive being dragged through a cable trunk. Keep a spread of diameters and both shrink ratios on the bench, because the right fit matters more than anything else once the iron is hot and the lead is half built.
